About us
Grüne’s Leihhäuser in brief
Grüne’s Leihhäuser has existed since 1932. Today, around 180 employees work in 20 branches in 9 cities. As Germany’s largest private pawn lending institution, we work in an industry that many people only truly understand at second glance.
Pawn lending is clearly regulated, close to people and more responsible than many think. Through our work, we want to help pawn lending become even more widely recognised as one of several financing options in Germany.

In focus
You are good with people. We will teach you pawn lending.
For our customer advisor roles in our pawn loan branches, we are looking for people with experience in customer contact, a good feel for numbers, care in handling money and valuables, and a desire for a stable job with responsibility.
Career changers are explicitly welcome: you do not need experience in pawn lending. Reliability, composure and a willingness to learn matter more.
In the branch, you advise customers, examine valuable items, explain decisions and work with clear processes. You learn step by step what matters in advice, valuation and documentation.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
-
Do I need experience in pawn lending?
No. You do not need to know about pawn lending already. We teach you step by step what matters in advice, valuation and processes. What is important is that you enjoy dealing with people, have a good feel for numbers, are precise and want to learn something new.
-
Which professions make a good starting point?
Experience from retail, service, hospitality, consulting, cash handling, jewellery, watches, electronics or a trade can be a good fit. What matters is not your previous job title, but that you enjoy working with people, are reliable and handle money and valuables with care.
-
What does a customer advisor in a pawn loan branch do?
You advise customers, examine valuable items, explain decisions clearly and work with the till, storage and paperwork. You also get to know the processes around pawn loans and auctions. No two days are quite the same, but precision and a calm manner are always important.
-
How does onboarding work?
You are trained by experienced colleagues and learn the work step by step in the branch. On top of that, there are training courses, practical experience in day-to-day work and a dedicated contact person for your questions. So you do not need to know everything at the start.
-
Why do I need a certificate of good conduct?
Because you work with valuables, money and sensitive customer situations, a certificate of good conduct (Führungszeugnis) is part of the process. This is not a sign of mistrust. It reflects the responsibility that comes with the role.
-
How quickly will I hear back?
After you apply, you immediately receive an automatic confirmation. We then review your documents carefully and usually get back to you within 10 days. If it takes longer, we will let you know.
-
Is remote working possible?
In our branches, you work on site. This is part of the role, because you work directly with customers, valuable items and clear processes in the branch. Different arrangements may apply to other areas depending on the role.
-
What if I do not meet all the requirements?
Then it can still be worth applying. Especially for work in our branches, you do not need industry experience. What matters is that you are reliable, enjoy working with people, are careful and want to keep learning.
-
What happens after I apply?
If there is a basic fit, we will contact you personally. For branch positions, we usually start with a short phone call. After that, you meet the HR team and the branch management. If both sides are still interested, you get a realistic insight into the work on site.
-
Can I take holiday during the probationary period?
Taking holiday during the probationary period is generally possible once you have accrued the days on a pro rata basis and it fits operationally. If you have already planned a holiday before your start date, just mention it during the process.
